Question: Why do people get so uptight about recreational cocaine use?

I hate how people jump all over like its me. It simply seems that society is more accepting of other illegal substances. Do not criticize, simply let me know why this drug in particular is so stereotyped and labeled. I am hoping to use the answers in a paper I am writing.

Because there isn´t such a thing as recreational use of drugs. If you try them, you are playing with fire and you will pay a price. Get out of your head and do something good for yourself.

Because when you are talking about cocaine it starts out recreational but it doesnt stay that way for long. I've had to many friends start out that way and ended up screwing up their lives beyond repair. My advice to you is dont do it.

Some people are just anti-drug. I tend to stay away from them. If they got a problem with something I do, then they probably ain't chill'n wit me...

I dunno - Coke is like the biggest waste of money ever. All it does is make you jaw sore in the long run. Take acid instead. It's the best bang for your buck

Because even if you use it recreational, you are liable to get a stroke or heart attack. I work in a hospital. I get to see those kind of stupid cases all the time. And guess what? When you are young and have a stroke or heart attack, people usually die quickly.

I dont know.....as for the others answers...i respect their opinions and dont necessarily disagree but there are lots of things that are bad for us and are illegal and we do them anyway....some pot smokers will say that coke is worse than weed while some non users say its all bad....i say everything in moderation

I get uptight about it because I know a person who DIED the first time they used it for supposed "recreational " purposes. It can also cause serious health problems, ruin relationships and ruin lives. Call me crazy, but I think those are pretty good reasons to be uptight about it, atleast when it comes to my own loved ones. You go right ahead and have a blast ruining yourself on it if that makes you happy.

You are killing your brain cells one snort at a time. You may feel great at first bec your body isn't used to it but if you keep it up, your brain will stop responding the same way. I wouldn't wish a coke addiction on my worse enemy!!I was addicted for 10 years.It started out recreation ally also.Ended up with me hiding from everyone in an upstairs apt.With my nose bleeding and coughing up blood all the time.I was using one time and my nose started bleeding and would not stop.It bleed all over the place.I started getting light headed.It was in January,and was freezing.I thought I was going to die.I had a bath towel soaked in blood and crawled down the stairs.Could not let go of the towel because every time I did the blood would gush out of my head,nose and mouth I was drowning in it.I finally got outside and drove myself to the ER where they stared at me and thought I had been in a car wreck.When they finally got me in front of a doctor,I told him I had a sinus infection.He laughed and said o'yeah,will when are you going to stop aggravating it with all that coke use?Shortly thereafter I went to treatment and have been clean for 12years and help others just like myself.You can do this too!! Stop it before it stops you!!God Bless!!
